IMRCS 2018 stands for Indonesia Malaysia Research Consortium Seminar 2018 that will be held on 21-22 November 2018 in Surabaya, Indonesia.

I’MRC was established in Jakarta on 22nd December 2014 when the delegation from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) held a meeting with the Indonesian Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education. In that bilateral talks, the UTM delegation proposed a high-impact project called Indonesia-Malaysia Research Consortium. Subsequently, another meeting was held in Jakarta on 10th July 2015 between the UTM delegation and the Indonesian Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) to establish Indonesia-Malaysia Research Consortium. To strengthen this strategic relationship, I’M Research Consortium Forum was held at UTM campus in Kuala Lumpur on 18th May 2016. The Forum was attended by more than 70 delegates from more than 30 institutions of higher education from Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and others.
Recently, the Malaysian minister of higher education, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, and the Indonesian Minister for Research, Technology and Higher Education, Mohamad Nasir, led a bilateral meeting on 2nd October 2017 in Jakarta to discuss further cooperation within the I’MRC platform. UTM from Malaysia and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) from Indonesia have been asked to act as coordinators for this cooperation.
As the continuation of the initiative and to refine the strategic issues on the cooperation in the fields of higher education and research between Indonesian and Malaysian institutions, I’MRC Seminar will be held on 21 – 22 th November 2018 in Surabaya, Indonesia. This event will be open not only for institutions from both Indonesia and Malaysia but also for the partners from both countries.
The theme of this international seminar is “Development Research Potential in Renewable Energy” involving the development of Advanced vehicles, Biomass energy, Bioenergy, Gasification systems, Geothermal energy, Grid connected renewable energy, Hydroelectric power, Hydrogen energy, Ocean thermal energy conversion, Solar energy, Wind energy, ICT for energy, Infrastructure for energy and related interest with these topics.
